InCharge Energy Announces Impactful Wins for Earth Day

April 21, 2023

This year, the company has delivered more than 250,000 charging sessions.

SANTA MONICA, CALIF. – This Earth Day, InCharge Energy, the fleet electrification services leader, is sharing never-before-published data to highlight the importance of sustainable transportation, the incredible progress that has been made and the work that is left to do. As a company dedicated to sustainable solutions, InCharge Energy is committed to supporting initiatives that promote a cleaner and healthier planet.

“Every day, we do the work to combat climate change by transitioning gas-burning fleet vehicles to zero-emission electric vehicles. On Earth Day, it’s important to us to share our enthusiasm for accelerating the rate of fleet electrification, as we know that electric transportation is a key strategy in the fight against climate change,” said Terry O’Day, Co-Founder and COO of InCharge Energy. “By sharing some of our wins, InCharge Energy hopes to inspire individuals and businesses alike to take action in support of a more sustainable future.”

Celebrating Wins in Fleet Electrification

Today, InCharge is proud to celebrate some accomplishments in fleet electrification that are providing quantifiable contributions to emissions reduction.

  • Since switching to electric buses, InCharge Energy’s school district customers have realized average savings of up to 20-45% on total energy bills by delaying charging to off-peak times
  • InCharge has delivered more than 250,000 charges so far this year, translating into nearly 22 metric tons of greenhouse gases not emitted.
    • InCharge enables more than 2,500 charging sessions per day – up 81% from last year’s daily average.
  • InCharge fleet customers have avoided more than 2,400 gallons of gas this year.
  • More than 3,000 charging stations, managed by InControl™ EV fleet charge and energy management software, are expected to begin charging fleet EVs this year, as part of InCharge infrastructure projects already in progress.
  • InCharge charging infrastructure solutions support charging for more than a dozen EV models, ranging from passenger vehicles from Nissan and General Motors to Class-8 trucks from Navistar and Daimler.
  • InCharge rigorously tests EVs from nearly 20 auto manufacturers with its ICE chargers to ensure interoperability, reliability and safety.
  • InCharge Energy serves customers in more than 50 North American states and territories, reaching nearly 600 cities.

Since its inception, InCharge has helped remove nearly 20 million pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this is the equivalent of:

  • More than 850,000 gallons of gas avoided
  • More than 19 million miles not driven by gas-powered vehicles
  • More than 740,000 gallons of diesel fuel avoided
  • More than 50 acres of U.S. forests preserved

An Earth Day-Worthy Project

InCharge Energy, in collaboration with ABB E-mobility, has successfully provided, commissioned and will activate 40 Terra 124 chargers to power Sysco’s new electric fleet of 40 Freightliner eCascadia trucks. ABB E-mobility Terra 124 chargers, rated at 120 kW, offer EV fleets fast, reliable charging technology in a compact, all-in-one footprint, allowing Sysco to fully charge their electric vehicles in a fraction of the time it would take with other charging solutions.

By utilizing InCharge Energy and ABB E-mobility’s advanced charging solutions, Sysco can now provide its customers with emissions-free transportation solutions while reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to a cleaner environment.

“Providing reliable charging technology to companies like Sysco, who are committed to sustainable operations, is critical to California’s fleet electrification goals,” added Bob Stojanovic, SVP of ABB E-mobility in North America. “Working with experienced and innovative charging deployment partners like InCharge Energy helps us drive fleet electrification at scale.”
